here comes my next trip after spain+france from some months ago: d and i have booked flights and hotel (finally!) for the upcoming tokyo extravagant holiday-ing getaway. in case you dont already know, i happened to have booked my tickets early this year in jan, wayyy before i got my spain-france flights.
anyway, we still have no clue what it's going to be like, where we're heading, and how to even get to the hotel. he did pass me a couple of guidebooks, but im in no state to go through every one of them, and he, the procrastinator, wont too, so we'll most likely have to cross our fingers, hoping that we wont get lost trying to find our way out of the massively-confusing subway stations.
ah and we do know we'll be staying in shinjuku. (yay, tripadvisor) and fortunately, we did not follow iv's recommendation of staying at oakwood residences, because to my knowledge, oakwood has cancelled all reservations since end last week, unless your reservation with them exceeds 30 days. something about japanese government and swine flu, though it seems for now that oakwood is the only serviced apartment to have received such orders from the officials.
i just thought how irresponsibly oakwood had been in handling the whole situation. bad, bad crisis management. or maybe they didnt think it was a crisis. because some tourists travelling with children actually made reservations from as far as a year back, least they could do was to recommend an alternative. apparently, some were even due to fly in 30 hours when the cancellation email was sent out. where to look for decent and not-overpriced lodging at such a short notice?
still, im looking forward to tokyo.
meanwhile, am already making plans to spend christmas in some foreign romantic land, though christmas seems scarily faraway. i dont know what is it about travelling that i exactly love, maybe it's just the getting-away part.
maybe it has something to do with how i used to love running away, literally.
